Spencer Quarries, Inc. is located near the town of Spencer, SD and has been in operation for approximately 100 years.  Originally, the quarry was used to produce building stones.  Since that time the product line and rate of production has changed dramatically.  The primary products now are aggregates for concrete and asphalt, railroad ballast, and rip rap.

Spencer Quarries has recently completed a construction phase of upgrading its crushing and screening capacity with the addition of two new rock crushers, four new grizzly feeders, a 3 deck screen, and 900' of conveyor.  The completed project cost was in excess of $2,000,000.

Spencer Quarries presently owns 320 acres.  The present pit area is approximately 35 acres.  In the deepest portion of the pit, quartzite rock is being removed at the 135ft. level.

Spencer Quarries Inc. is a strong contributor to the local economy.  The quarry has 17 full time employees and hires farmers and college students as part-time help during portions of the year.
